Last year the NBA All-Star Weekend got a rare Battle of the Sexes as Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry battled WNBA superstar Sabrina Ionescu in a three-point contest. Naturally, fans have wanted to see WNBA megastar Caitlin Clark try the same.
But fans hoping to see Clark back on the court this February are going to be disappointed.
On Wednesday, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported that Clark will not be joining the three-point shootout in San Francisco next month. Per her representatives at Excel Sports, Clark intends to have her first three-point contest take place at this summer’s WNBA All-Star Game instead.
“Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark will not participate in NBA All-Star special 3-point shootout in San Francisco and ‘wants her first three-point contest to be at WNBA All-Star in Indianapolis this summer,’ her representatives at Excel Sports said today,” Charania wrote.

Fans in the comments were understandably disappointed, but some had their own ideas of how it could work out next time:
“Have Steph and her square off during the WNBA All-Star weekend instead,” one user suggested.
“Booo. I think this is a slight Caitlin misstep. Weekend would’ve been hers. And then she could bring that energy to next year,” another declared.
“caitlin always put the W first, and that’s what I love about her!!!” wrote a third.
“Steph should show up to WNBA All Star weekend and face her,” a fourth wrote.
Caitlin Clark’s immense popularity has completely changed the face of not just women’s basketball, but women’s sports in general. Everywhere she goes, massive crowds follow to see her or see what she’s seeing.
The NBA All-Star Weekend festivities would have been no different, but now it puts all eyes on the WNBA All-Star Game later this summer.
Will we see Clark take on an NBA star at the WNBA All-Star Game?
