A live look at the fan reaction.
The Golden State Warriors played one of the best regular season games you’ll ever see on Sunday night. Unfortunately, it didn’t go their way, as they lost 121-119 in overtime to the LA Clippers, which sent them to the play-in tournament, and a date on Tuesday with the Memphis Grizzlies.
Here’s a look at the live reaction to all the action, as seen through comments on the Golden State of Mind game thread.
First quarter: ‘I’m so nervous’
Things started out wonderfully for the Dubs. After briefly falling behind, they caught fire and stormed ahead, taking a 33-25 lead after the first quarter.
Second quarter: ‘Clippers are just too good’
The Warriors pushed the lead to double digits in the second quarter, but the Clippers came storming back. They used a furious rally inside the final minute to take a 60-58 halftime lead, and steal momentum from Golden State.
Third quarter: ‘Not looking good’
The teams exchanged blows all through the third quarter. The Warriors re-took the lead, then gave it back. They went back and forth and back and forth, with Jimmy Butler III showing out, and carrying the Warriors. But LA led 82-81 going into the final frame.
Fourth quarter: ‘Steph has come to life’
Steph Curry had a tough game, as he got torched on defense and committed eight turnovers. But he also scored a team-high 36 points, and went ballistic at times in the fourth quarter, making big shot after big shot. It came down to the wire, and Draymond Green got a stop on Kawhi Leonard at the buzzer, sending the game to overtime.
Overtime: ‘Another Steph turnover’
The Clippers scored the first six points of the extra period, and never relinquished the lead. The Warriors got some good looks, but couldn’t quite pull it off, losing 121-119 and tumbling to the seventh seed.
