OPTIMISTIC SMALL SAMPLE SIZE ALERT!
After an undefeated preseason, I had high hopes. The Golden State Warriors went 6-0 in exhibition season with several new pieces, and guarded optimism began to appear in Dub Nation.
Now, after five games, the Warriors have raced out to win four outta five. That’s good enough for third best in the league, behind only the undefeated Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Is this 2016?! Hilarious, those were two teams I thought we’d never see again after the Warriors crushed them during the dynasty.
Check out the Warriors’ scintillating offensive rankings as of this morning:
- 8th in FG% (47.6%)
- 2nd in three-pointes made and attempted per game (17.6 3PM, 45 3PA)
- 6th in 3P% (39.1%)
Now let’s take a look at the defensive stats as well:
- 3rd in steals (11.6 per game)
- 6th in blocks (6.8 per game)
- 3rd in pointers per game (119.8 per game)
- 3rd in defensive field goal percentage (43.1%)
- 2nd in defensive field goal percentage less than five feet of the rim (53.3%)
Biggest positive difference I see between this Warriors team and the last two is that bad teams just aren’t going to be able to score on them.

A whole lot of praise for Jerry Stackhouse’s work with the Warriors’ defense postgame tonight. Draymond Green said Stackhouse is holding everybody accountable in a way they haven’t had in a while. (Read: Since Mike Brown left.)

Draymond Green: “I spent all summer watching everyone talking about Chet and Wemby and what they’re doing defensively. Don’t forget about Dray. I want to be in that conversation as well.”

The Dubs are cooking up something by the Bay. Can they keep it going? I have a feeling when Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins come back from injury, they have a pretty good chance to.
