Bob Myers, the architect of the Warriors’ dynasty, announced Tuesday that he’s stepping down as the franchise’s president and general manager.
During his time with the Warriors, Myers won four NBA championships and was named Executive of the Year twice.
Myers has not yet announced if he’ll pursue another front-office role in the NBA. If that’s what his heart desires, there’ll be plenty of offers on the table.
So without further ado, here are three teams that would benefit greatly from hiring Myers:
Phoenix Suns
The Suns should absolutely express interest in Bob Myers. While there are concerns about Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton’s contracts, the roster has an absurdly-talented duo in Devin Booker and Kevin Durant.
It also doesn’t hurt that Phoenix’s top player has history with Myers. In case you forgot, Myers was able to win the sweepstakes for Durant during the 2016 offseason.
Brooklyn Nets
The Kevin Durant era is over for the Nets. That doesn’t mean all hope is lost though.
Mikal Bridges is a promising player to build around, Cam Johnson will most likely be retained in free agency, and the Nets have the necessary draft capital to rebuild. All they need is the right general manager to steer the ship. Sean Marks has proven in the past that he’s not that guy. If the Nets are serious about winning, they should putting on a full-court press to acquire Myers.
New York Knicks
The Knicks took a massive step in the right direction this year, making the second round of the playoffs with Jalen Brunson at the forefront. That being said, the franchise shouldn’t be complacent with that result.
With a few intriguing assets on the roster and a plethora of draft picks at their disposal, the Knicks should be involved in a blockbuster trade sooner than later. Obviously, Myers would almost certainly help the Knicks navigate through those waters.
