The San Antonio Spurs have acquired De’Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings as part of a three-team trade involving the Chicago Bulls. The Kings will acquire LaVine as well as Sidy Cissoko, three first round picks (2025 via Charlotte, 2027 via Spurs, 2031 via Minnesota), three second round picks (2025 via Chicago, 2028 via Denver, 2028 own pick back).
Chicago acquires Zach Collins, Tre Jones, Kevin Huerter, their own 2025 pick back from the Spurs.
The Spurs will also acquire Jordan McLaughlin along with Fox. The Kings began listening to trade offers on Fox this week as it became clear he did not intend to sign a long-term extension with the franchise this offseason. The Spurs were Fox’s preferred destination as he will now team up with Victor Wembanyama.
The Kings pivot away from Fox and will reunite DeMar DeRozan with Lavine to add to their core alongside Domantas Sabonis, Malik Monk and Keegan Murray. LaVine is owed $46 million next year and holds a $49 million player option for the 2026-27 season.
The first round pick originating from the Hornets is lottery protected this year and then converts to second rounders in 2026 and 2027. Minnesota’s pick in 2031 is unprotected.
