The Houston Rockets will not change course from their plans and pursue a trade for De’Aaron Fox ahead of the trade deadline, even if the Sacramento Kings make him available, sources tell Kelly Iko of The Athletic.
The Rockets have been pleased with the growth of their team this season and intend to let it continue into the playoffs. Houston could reassess their position in the offseason for a major trade. The Rockets are somewhat limited in which players they could make available due to the extensions signed by Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun before the season.
The Rockets are only interested in considering marginal moves at the deadline that wouldn’t disrupt their current rotation. The Rockets have $10.6 million in room below the luxury tax and their nontaxplayer midlevel exception worth $12.8 million.
Fox grew up in the Houston area.
