The New Orleans Pelicans are expected to make Brandon Ingram available in trade talks if they are unable to agree to terms on a contract extension, sources tell Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports. Ingram is entering the final season of his contract and the Pelicans have previously been considered unlikely to offer him an extension at his four-year, $208 million max.
The Philadelphia 76ers are among the teams interested in trading for Ingram and their $60 million in cap space would make a trade with the Pelicans easy from a financial perspective.
While the Cleveland Cavaliers are also considered a possible team for Ingram, their front office remains reluctant to break up their core of Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen.
The Atlanta Hawks are another team mentioned for Ingram, but there have been no substantive talks between the two teams since the deadline when they discussed Dejoutne Murray.
The Sacramento Kings could be a team to emerge for Ingram as they have been seeking upgrades on the wing and would have matching salary in Harrison Barnes and Kevin Huerter.
Ingram is the final player remaining on the Pelicans’ roster directly from their 2019 trade with the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis. Ingram is represented by Jeff Schwartz and Jordan Gertler.
