The Kings went with one of the older prospects in the draft with the No. 9 pick.
The Sacramento Kings selected Davion Mitchell with the No. 9 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft on Thursday. Mitchell was projected to go 13th overall to the Indiana Pacers in SB Nation’s mock draft.
Mitchell, who spent his junior and senior seasons at Baylor, is one of the oldest players in the draft. Mitchell will turn 23 years old in September.
The Kings’ decision to pick an older player in Mitchell suggests they wanted to pick someone with the potential to contribute right away, but given their lack of size on the wing and lack of a true star talent outside of De’Aaron Fox, the pick is definitely questionable.
