Joe Dumars explained the NBA’s decision to suspend Draymond Green for Game 3 of the first round series between the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings. Green stepped on the sternum of Domantas Sabonis after Sabonis grabbed Green’s leg while trying to run up the floor.
“Here’s what it came down to: Excessive and over-the-top actions, conduct detrimental and a repeat offender,” said Dumars to ESPN. “That’s what separates this where you end up with a suspension.”
Dumars said he tried to ignore the fact that the Kings are up 2-0 in the series.
“You know what the situation is, but you have to set that aside and look at the facts in front of you…Repeat offender weighs as heavy as anything.”
Before joining the league office, Dumars was a consultant for the Kings.
