In his first reunion with the Giants since getting traded earlier this month, Joey Bart had some kind words to say about both his former and current teams.
Good morning, baseball fans!
With the San Francisco Giants playing the Pittsburgh Pirates this weekend, they had a very swift reunion with former Giants catcher Joey Bart, who was traded earlier this month.
In an interview with Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, Bart had nothing but kind words for his former organization, stating that he loved his time in San Francisco, and still thinks fondly of the fans and his former teammates and coaches, noting that he will be following the team and has high hopes for their success this season.
He also had some optimistic sentiments about his new team, for whom he hit a home run in his first at bat after getting traded. Bart notes that their young talent mixed with veteran leadership puts them in a good position to be successful this season.
And he’s far from the only former Giants player on the Pirates, despite not having played with any of them before. Bryan Reynolds, though he never played for the Giants, was drafted by them. He was then traded for Andrew McCutchen, who is back with the Pirates. And of course, Connor Joe, who is on the long list of Opening Day left-fielders for the organization. So at least he’s in good company with his new team.
What time do the Giants play this weekend?
The Giants wrap up this series against the Pirates this weekend, with Saturday’s game starting at 6:05 p.m. PT, and Sunday’s game starting at 1:05 p.m. PT.
