After yet another season of aggressive mediocrity, is it time for the Giants to part ways with Farhan Zaidi?
Good morning, baseball fans!
The San Francisco Giants are currently (as of Friday afternoon) sitting seven and a half games back in the Wild Card race. With just 20 games left to play this season, it’s pretty hard to imagine a scenario in which they end up in the playoffs.
Instead, it’s looking like this year will go down as yet another forgettably mediocre season amongst nearly a decade of them.
So I guess it’s never too early to start looking back on things and looking ahead at what might be done in the offseason.
Last season, Gabe Kapler and the coaching staff bore the brunt of frustrations when the Giants opted to go in a different direction there. However, Farhan Zaidi is running out of people to metaphorically throw under the bus. And a lot of fans seem to think this is going to be it for his time with the organization.
While I don’t know if that’s the right decision, it’s hard to argue in Zaidi’s favor at this point. Whether the aggressively consistent mediocrity has been his fault or not, it has remained consistent nonetheless.
How are you guys feeling about Farhan Zaidi after this season? Is it time for the organization to move on? Or is the larger problem elsewhere?
What time do the Giants play this weekend?
The Giants continue their series against the San Diego Padres this weekend from Petco Park, with Saturday’s game starting at 5:40 p.m. and Sunday’s starting at 1:10 p.m. PT.
