It’s almost time for this year’s Willie Mac Award ceremony. Who do Giants fans think will get the honors this year?
Good morning, baseball fans!
As the San Francisco Giants wrap up their last road series of the season, let’s take a look ahead at Friday night’s Willie Mac Award ceremony.
This award is presented every year to the most inspirational player on the team, as voted on by players, coaches, training staff, and fans.
Winners in this decade include Mike Yastrzemski, LaMonte Wade, Jr., Wilmer Flores and last year’s winner Thairo Estrada.
While it’s sometimes fairly easy to guess who the winner will be, it can just as often come as quite the surprise.
Personally, I think the strongest cases for this year’s winner would be Logan Webb, Patrick Bailey, and Matt Chapman. I was honestly surprised to see that Webb had not already received one. I think it’s more likely to be Bailey, but I would not be surprised to see any of the three of those players get the honor at Friday night’s ceremony.
Who do you think will be this year’s recipient?
What time do the Giants play today?
The Giants wrap up this series against the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight at 6:40 p.m., before enjoying their last off day of the year tomorrow.
