Here’s what’s on deck for today’s Wild Card games.
Good morning, baseball fans!
As I said last week, it’s always on my days off that the San Francisco Giants news goes wild. I fully anticipated that they would part ways with Farhan Zaidi after this last season. I even anticipated that we would eventually see President Buster Posey. I did not, however, anticipate that we would see him running the entire team before he was even eligible for the Hall of Fame ballot.
Wild times. Anyway, I just wanted to get my two cents in but that’s not what we’re here for.
No, today we’re here to take a look at what’s on deck for the ongoing Wild Card series.
First up, the Detroit Tigers will attempt to knock out the Houston Astros after taking a 1-0 lead in the series yesterday with a 3-1 victory. Their series will continue at 11:32 a.m. PT on ABC from Houston. Tyler Holton will be getting the start for the Tigers, facing off against Hunter Brown for the Astros.
After that, the visiting Kansas City Royals will try to do the same against the Baltimore Orioles, after defeating them in a tight 1-0 victory yesterday. Their series will continue at 1:38 p.m. PT over on ESPN. Seth Lugo will take the mound for the Royals against Zach Eflin for the Orioles.
The National League gets back to work after that, with the New York Mets attempting to keep the momentum going after their 8-4 win against the Milwaukee Brewers yesterday. Their game will start at 4:38 p.m. PT, also on ESPN. Old friend Sean Manaea will get the start for the Mets, against Frankie Montas for the Brewers.
And finally, the San Diego Padres, the only home team to have a lead in the series thus far, will attempt to close things out against the Atlanta Braves, whom they defeated in a 4-0 shutout yesterday. Their series will continue at 5:38 p.m. PT on ESPN2. Max Fried will be taking the mound for the Braves, facing off against Joe Musgrove for the Padres.
(Starting pitchers subject to change.)
Happy watching, and let us know who you’ll be rooting for down in the comments! I’m personally going to stay on the Mets train until it inevitably derails.
