Bang bang, Niner gang.
The cross-sport scheduling gods and goddesses did the Bay Area a favor on Monday. While 18 MLB teams were in action on Monday, the San Francisco Giants had the day off … convenient, since the San Francisco 49ers drew the high-profile assignment of getting to play on Monday Night Football in Week 1 of the NFL season.
That means you didn’t have to choose between watching the final days of a painful season that you’ll soon woefully miss, and the opening day of an exciting season that you hope doesn’t disappoint you quite as much. It also means you didn’t get to break out the famous Juan Uribe quote. And for the Giants — who were home on Monday, as they begin a homestand on Tuesday — it meant getting to take in some prime time football.
During the Niners’ 32-19 victory (scorigami!) over the New York Jets and everyone’s favorite conspiracy theorist, the Giants Twitter account posted pictures of pitchers Blake Snell, Kyle Harrison, Ryan Walker, Tristan Beck, and Taylor Rogers taking in the game at Levi’s Stadium.

It’s a little bit of a funny scene, seeing Harrison off on his own while the rest of the pitchers were clearly placed together, but if I had to make a wild guess it would be because Harrison is a Bay Area local, and might have been taking in the game with a big group of family or friends.
Furthermore, there were Giants there that weren’t even captured by the Giants’ social team, as Logan Webb took to Instagram to post a picture from Levi’s Stadium … and that picture had Curt Casali in it. Apparently only pitchers and catchers were allowed to go to the game!
It’s fun seeing the players connecting on their off day, and certainly suggests that the recent quotes about good locker room vibes aren’t just lip service. It was also an exceptionally busy day of fraternizing with teammates for Webb and Snell … according to Webb’s Instagram page, the pair played a round of golf at Pebble Beach earlier in the day.
Hopefully the team’s successful Monday inspires their Tuesday, because hard to imagine a better day than the one Webb and Snell had.
What time do the Giants play today?
The Giants host the Brewers today at 6:45 p.m. PT as they kick off a three-game series.
