Buster Posey’s Good Friends are assembling. This time to help instruct the next generation.
Good morning, baseball fans!
If you’ve been feeling in need of your regular dose of nostalgia, the San Francisco Giants have you covered, as always.
Yesterday Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reported that the Giants will be tapping some familiar names to join the team for Spring Training as guest instructors.
It’s no surprise to see the likes of Hunter Pence, Jeremy Affeldt, Ryan Vogelsong and Javier Lopez on the list, as they have continued to work with the organization over the years.
However, it was a bit of a surprise to see Santiago Casilla, Yusmeiro Petit, Joe Panik and Marco Scutaro on the list, as they’ve only tended to make appearances for things like reunion events and celebrations.
Pavlovic writes that Madison Bumgarner has also expressed interest in re-joining the organization in some capacity, and notes that the Giants are planning to give Brandon Crawford a year to get sick of retirement before discussing a future role with the team.
Personally, I would like to see the other Brandon added to the list as well. And see him get a celebration similar to Crawford’s. Heck, combine them. Brandons are Awesome, after all. But that’s a rant for another day.
How many days until Opening Day?
51 days to go now!
