Hear from the new PBO.
On Monday, the San Francisco Giants dropped some shocking news: president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi had been ousted, and the team was replacing him with franchise legend Buster Posey. And just one day later, we’ll get to hear from the man himself.
The Giants have a press conference scheduled for 10 a.m. PT to formally announce Posey in his new role. He’ll be joined by manager Bob Melvin and Giants chairman Greg Johnson.
We’ll hopefully learn a lot from Posey’s presser. As exciting as the news is, plenty of questions remain. What inspired him to want to take on such a big, committed role, when no one saw it coming? How many front office positions will he hire to help him navigate an entirely new role? Is Pete Putila still employed? What philosophies does he plan to impart on the organization? Have they re-signed Blake Snell yet?
Soon we’ll know the answers to some of those questions. And soon we’ll start to see if Posey — a seven-time All-Star and three-time champion as a player — can reach those heights as an executive, too.
