Here’s what you need to know for the last day of the Wild Card series. It is…not a lot.
Good morning, baseball fans!
Well, today we were going to take a look at the Game 3’s that were scheduled to be played today. But there will only be one.
The Detroit Tigers knocked out the Houston Astros and will go on to play the Cleveland Guardians in the ALDS. The Kansas City Royals also advanced, knocking out the Baltimore Orioles, and will go on to play the New York Yankees in their ALDS.
The San Diego Padres held on against the Atlanta Braves to take their series, and will go on to play the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS. The Philadelphia Phillies are the last team waiting to find out who they will be playing.
And that is because the New York Mets lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 5-3 today, with the Brewers rallying for three runs in the eighth inning to take the lead. They will be the only series to go the full three games. Today’s game will take place at 5:38 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on ESPN2. Jose Quintana is scheduled to take the mound for the Mets, with Tobias Myers getting the start for the Brewers.
Programming note: This will serve as the BP for Thursday and Friday, as there are no games scheduled for Friday. We will resume our playoff activities on Saturday, when all four division series are set to begin.
