Another season of Minor League Baseball is about to get started.
The season begins for the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. But just in case you’re a baseball sicko who needs more, more, more, the Minor League season is right behind the Major League one. AAA Sacramento starts their season on Friday, with AA Richmond, High-A Eugene, and Low-A San Jose all starting the next week. Before you know it, the Arizona Complex League and Dominican Summer League will be off and running.
Whatever your views of the Giants farm system, there’s no shortage of intriguing prospects to keep your eye on. Whether you’re interested in hot prospects who are just getting started, top prospects nearing Major League debuts, struggling talents trying to bounce back, or breakout players hoping to keep the good times rolling, there’s a little something for everyone.
So which prospects are you most looking forward to following this year? For me, there’s no need to overthink it: the two obvious answers are the top prospect in the system (Bryce Eldridge), and the recent top international signing (Josuar de Jesus González).
But beyond that, I find myself drunk on the excitement of a getting to watch Dakota Jordan this year, to see if his superstar power and speed can materialize into a superstar player. And I’m curious to see how Jhonny Level does in his debut stateside season, and if Rayner Arias can find his prospect status again after two wrist injuries.
