Let’s go Mets!
Good morning, baseball fans!
The 2024 playoffs move on to the next round today as the National League Championship Series begins. The visiting New York Mets will be taking the Los Angeles Dodgers. So you know what that means, we’re all now the biggest Mets fans in the world. (What could possibly go wrong with trusting the Mets?)
Today’s game takes place at Dodger Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 5:15 p.m. PT. The game will be broadcast on Fox.
Taking the mound for the Mets will be right-hander Kodai Senga, who only pitched five innings in the regular season. He’s had one start in the postseason so far, in the Mets’ 6-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on October 5th. Senga went two innings, allowing one run on one hit with three strikeouts and a walk.
He’ll be facing off against Dodgers right-hander Jack Flaherty, who concluded the 2024 season with a 3.17 ERA, 3.48 FIP, with 194 strikeouts to 38 walks in 162 innings pitched between the Dodgers and the Detroit Tigers. His last start was in the Dodgers’ 10-2 loss to the San Diego Padres on October 6th, in which he allowed four runs on five hits with two strikeouts and a walk in five and a third innings.
