San Francisco Giants pitching coach Bryan Price has stepped down from his position after one season with the team. This season, the Giants’ pitching was not what you would call solid, but Price was not the root of the issue. He is a pitching coach with expertise but unfortunately, the Giants have gone downhill with their pitching starting from last season. Last season, the Giants lost two members of their pitching coaching staff (Brian Bannister and Andrew Bailey). Losing both set the pitching staff back in 2024.
Some news: Bryan Price is stepping aside after one season as the Giants’ pitching coach. “That was a brass ring I had to grab and I’m really glad I did.” https://t.co/NLBztA7Z6s

SF Giants Pitching Coach Bryan Price Steps Down From Role
Price started his MLB pitching coach career with the Seattle Mariners from 2001 to 2006. He earned Pitching Coach of the Year in his first season with the Mariners. Price also was the pitching coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2006 to 2009. He then ventured off to become the pitching coach for the Cincinnati Reds from 2010 to 2013, before being promoted to manager in 2014. But after four rough seasons for the Reds, Price was let go. In 2020, he served as the Philadelphia Phillies pitching coach and then senior advisor for the San Diego Padres coaching staff from 2022 to 2023. Giants President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey will have to find a replacement with Price leaving the Giants organization. The Giants need to focus on offseason changes after missing the postseason for three straight years.
It has been said that Ryan Vogelsong could be a strong candidate to replace Price as pitching coach. He was almost hired by the team last season. The reality is that Price did not intend to remain with the club for a long time. He was initially set on retiring from coaching several years ago. However, he changed his mind after being offered a role with his hometown team.
