THE sports leader.
Friday was a good day for the San Francisco Giants. It was their home opener and, even from afar, it was clear that the energy surrounding the team and the fanbase is palpably different this year. And then, for good measure, they punctuated the day with a thrilling walk-off win over the Seattle Mariners.
But before any of that, they shared some good news to start the day. On Friday morning, the team announced that they had extended their agreement with radio partner KNBR through the 2028 season.
Radio extensions are something you tend not to think of. Of course the Giants and KNBR are staying together, you surely are thinking. What else would happen?
But, as so many teams have shown us in recent years, broadcasting rights can get shockingly sticky, and very quickly. There’s a lot of money at play, after all.
That isn’t happening with the Giants though, at least not for a long time. They’re staying right where they belong, as they have for so many years.
