Ask and you shall (maybe, possibly, perhaps) receive.
Today is the first full squad workout for the San Francisco Giants this Spring Training. We’re only five days away from the first preseason game, and just 38 days away from Opening Day (Giants Opening Day, that is … due to the MLB Tokyo Series, the first regular season game of the MLB season will take place in just 29 games, if you’re into watching the Dodgers vs. the Cubs in the middle of the night).
So, with another season upon us, I thought I’d ask the community a question that I somehow don’t think I’ve ever asked: what content would you like to see at McCovey Chronicles this year?
I want to make it clear that I’m not asking anyone to do my job and come up with content ideas for me. The page in my notes app titled “Articles to write someday” is exceptionally long, and I have far more problems limiting myself to an eight-hour work day than I have trying to fill up those eight hours.
So this isn’t about crowdsourcing ideas so much as it’s about getting a vibe check on what you awesome people whose readership keeps me employed (for which I am extremely grateful) actually want to be seeing, reading, and engaging with.
We will have the usuals: morning BPs such as this one (which are now centered around a daily questions); series previews from Bryan; near-daily Minor League roundups from me; and recaps from a rotating cast of our writers. A few people have mentioned wanting player grades, which is a feature I do for our sister site Golden State of Mind after (almost) every Warriors game, so I’ll try to implement that this year (not sure whether it should be done every series, or every week).
That should keep the lights on and take up most of our time, but there’s always room for more. So if there are things that you particularly like reading about or commenting on, let me know! If I can provide the content that you all would like to click on, then we all win.
