The end of the season approaches.
It’s the final week of the 2024 MLB season. Well, the final week of the regular season, which means the final week for the San Francisco Giants, who were eliminated late last week.
The Giants continue their brutal — but so far wildly successful — road trip with three games against the Arizona Diamondbacks, then get a day off before finishing at home against the St. Louis Cardinals.
They way not be bound for a 163rd game, but there are still plenty of things to watch for, such as:
- Giants wins, which are always good, dang it.
- The quest for .500, which seemed impossible a week ago, but after taking two of three from the Baltimore Orioles and sweeping the Kansas City Royals, now is quite doable. They could even finish with a winning record if they go 5-1 or 6-0!
- The chance to play spoiler against the Diamondbacks who, while in a good position, could still fall out of playoff position.
- Another start each from Logan Webb and Blake Snell, aces.
- Another start each from Landen Roupp and Mason Black, rookies building on excellent starts.
- Another two starts from Hayden Birdsong, who is awesome.
- Possibly more home runs from Matt Chapman and Heliot Ramos and Mike Yastrzemski.
You know, things of that nature.
The Giants are still having fun, and you can still have fun, too.
