And you’re not gonna like it!
The field for the 2024 World Series is officially set, and folks, I have some bad news to share: the San Francisco Giants aren’t in it. But wait, it gets worse! The teams that are in it are the two teams you probably were hoping would not be in it.
Isn’t that just delightful.
Yes, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Mets on Sunday to win the National League and advance to the World Series. They’ll meet the New York Yankees, who beat the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday to win the American League.
The only good thing about this matchup is that the Yankees, equipped with Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and Giancarlo Stanton, have the firepower to hopefully make life miserable for the Dodgers. I can talk myself into being okay with the Yankees winning a World Series if it comes in a series of 14-2 wins over the Dodgers. So, do that please, Yankees.
Action begins on Friday, October 25, in Los Angeles, at a time yet to be determined. The series stays in LA on Saturday, before shifting to New York for the middle three games on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. If necessary, it concludes in Los Angeles next Friday and Saturday with Games 6 and 7.
I, for one, am stoked to see the Giants two biggest free agent targets in recent memory battle each other for a championship that doesn’t involve the Giants. Just thrilled.
How many days until Opening Day?
Just 157, for better or for worse.
