If food isn’t the most important first question for me to ask the McCovey Chronicles community, I don’t know what is.
Good morning, baseball fans!
As many of you probably saw yesterday, we are revamping the BP format to include prompts. If you missed the announcement from Brady, make sure you check it out.
I spent a long time considering what I wanted my first question/prompt for the McCovey Chronicles community to be, but of course the answer is obvious.
This is a food community first and a San Francisco Giants community second. (Or fifth, depending on what else is going on that day.)
So, McCoven, my question for you today is about food. Oracle Park has been open for 25 years this season, and one of the biggest draws for folks wanting to experience the ballpark is their diverse selection of food.
At the very first game I attended when the park opened, my teenage self was shocked to find out I could get clam chowder in a bread bowl. So naturally that was all I consumed at games for the first few years the park was open.
Is it a practical food to eat at a baseball game? Absolutely not. But it was delicious.
Nowadays, getting to a game in-person is a lot more rare. I also have adult money now, so I like to splurge a little and get the Krazy Krab sandwich. And then complain about the price the whole time, as you do. And of course, when those temperatures start to drop to freezing in the middle of a summer night, I have to get a Ghirardelli hot chocolate to maintain the feeling in my fingers so they don’t shatter if I happen to catch a fly ball.
What is your favorite food to get at Oracle Park?
