Johnny Cueto vs. Brett Anderson.
It’s time for the series finale between the San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers. And if you’re tired of seeing the Brewers, well … you’re not alone. And don’t worry, the schedule gets easier from here: it’s a nine-game homestand next, with two games against the Arizona Diamondbacks, four against the Colorado Rockies, and three against the New York Mets.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. There’s a game to be won, and the Giants are trusting Johnny Cueto to help win it for them. Cueto’s been finding his kill pitches lately, with 31 strikeouts in 26.2 innings over his last five starts.
He’ll meet Brett Anderson, who will provide the Giants with some opportunities. Anderson has a nice ERA of 3.67, but a less nice FIP of 4.40, with just 41 strikeouts to 19 walks in 68.2 IP.
Programming note: There will not be a recap for today’s game. Sorry for the lack of them lately.
