Johnny Cueto vs. Brandon Woodruff
The San Francisco Giants take on the Milwaukee Brewers again tonight in game two of this four game series. And they’re in for another rough one, facing yet another excellent Brewers pitcher.
Taking the mound for the Brewers is Brandon Woodruff, who enters tonight’s game with a 2.38 ERA, 2.79 FIP, with 177 strikeouts to 37 walks in 151 innings pitched. In his last start against the Giants on August 7th, Woodruff allowed only one earned run in six innings pitched (before the Giants won 9-6 in a wild, extra inning mess). His last start was much the same, he held the Cincinnati Reds to four hits, zero runs or walks, with 10 strikeouts.
He’ll be facing off against Johnny Cueto, who missed his start last night due to feeling under the weather. Cueto enters tonight’s game with a 3.73 ERA, 3.94 FIP with 94 strikeouts to 27 walks in 108 innings pitched. Cueto’s most recent start was against the New York Mets on August 25th, where he allowed five hits, one run (zero earned), walked three and struck out two in 4.2 innings of work.
