Anthony DeSclafani vs. Tylor Megill
The Giants will take on the Mets in the final game of this series today. The Giants will be looking to sweep, and they’ll be looking to Anthony DeSclafani to help them get it.
DeSclafani will enter today’s game with a 3.29 ERA, 3.72 FIP, with 122 strikeouts to 35 walks in 131 innings pitched. DeSclafani’s starts have been a mixed bag lately. His last start against the Rockies on Friday was solid, he went five innings, allowing five hits, two earned runs, walking two and striking out four. However, his previous two starts were short, and he allowed four earned runs in each.
He’ll be facing off against the Mets rookie right hander, Tylor Megill. Megill enters today’s game with a 3.42 ERA, 3.74 FIP with 54 strikeouts to 13 walks in 50 innings pitched. Megill was called up in June and has since provided some much needed stability to an injury-ridden rotation. His last start was solid, although a loss, he held the Dodgers to six hits, three runs, allowed one walk and struck out six in five innings.
The Giants have never faced Megill, and most of the Mets have limited (if any) at bats against DeSclafani. Not in the lineup today will be Buster Posey and Evan Longoria, with Kris Bryant back at third and Alex Dickerson getting the start at left field.
