Jordan Hicks vs. Bryan Woo.
After another delightful win on Saturday, the San Francisco Giants are back in action against the Seattle Mariners this afternoon, hoping for their second consecutive series sweep.
They’ll send right-hander Jordan Hicks to the mound, and Hicks will hope to build on a truly spectacular season debut. Against the Houston Astros on Monday, Hicks pitched six shutout innings, allowing just one hit and two walks, while striking out six. He was still sitting in the very high 90s with his final pitches.
He’s up against righty Bryan Woo, a local kid who was born in Oakland and pitched for Alameda High School. The 25 year old is a core part of Seattle’s elite rotation, and is coming off a brilliant season: least year he made 22 starts, and went 9-3 with a 2.89 ERA, a 3.40 FIP, and 101 strikeouts to 13 walks in 121.2 innings. In his season debut last week against the A’s, Woo gave up just one run in six innings.
Enjoy the game, Giants fans! And hopefully bring out the brooms!
