Will the NY’ers comeback continue or will we crown a champion tonight
In the top of the first inning last night, Freddy Freeman homered in his fifth straight World Series Game. In addition to giving him the record for most consecutive games with a WS homer, and giving the Dodgers a quick 2-0 lead, it was déjà vu all over again for Yankees fans. But a third inning grand slam by Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe was the boost the home team needed, and bats sprung to life against the Dodgers “B Team” of relievers. When all was said and done, the Yankees had their first win of the series by scoring eleven runs on nine hits. They took Game Four 11-4 at home.
But back to the present, Game Five begins tonight at 5:08 PM PDT (8:08 PM EDT) at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. This game is do-or-die for the Yankees, as it will be for the remainder of the series as all the Dodgers need is one more victory to be crowned World Series Champions. Tonight’s pitching matchup is a rematch of the two Game One starters; Geritt Cole for New York, and Jack Flaherty for the Dodgers.
Flaherty, the 29-year-old righty went 5.1 innings giving up two earned runs on five hits and a walk. He struck out six. Cole, a 34-year-old right-hander went 6.0 innings giving up four hits and one earned run. He struck out four Dodgers in his outing. Neither hurler was the pitcher of record for Game One.
Cole will matchup against this lineup for the visiting Dodgers:
Flaherty will try to cool off this resurgent Yankees lineup:
Should the Yankees win tonight, the series will move back to Los Angeles for game six on Friday (and seven if needed on Saturday).
