Second day of playoff baseball
Yesterday was fun. Four playoff games and all were a fun watch. We get to do it all again as four teams can advance and four teams face elimination here on the second day of the first round.
It’s the same order of games as yesterday, which means the Tigers and Astros are ready to face off in game two. Houston faces elimination after getting dominated by Tigers ace Tarik Skubal in yesterday’s contest and now face one of the earlier eliminations this group has faced in years. It’ll be Tigers left-hander Tyler Horton going up against Houston righty Hunter Brown. First pitch is at 11:32 A.M.
Next up will be the other AL Wild Card matchup, the Kansas City Royals versus the Baltimore Orioles in game two. The Royals squeezed out an extremely close 1-0 win over the O’s yesterday, putting them one win away from a trip to New York to take on the Yankees. Baltimore will try to stave off elimination and force game three. The starting pitching matchup will be a battle of righties between Seth Lugo and Zack Eflin, with the game scheduled to start at 1:38 P.M.
With the AL games either finished or underway we turn our attention to the NL side of things as the New York Mets will look to knock the Milwaukee Brewers out of the playoffs. This matchup is particularly interesting for A’s fans. Why? The starting pitching matchup will be between a pair of former Athletics hurlers in Sean Manaea for the Mets and Frankie Montas for the Brewers. Who are you rooting for in this matchup? First pitch is at 4:38 so don’t miss a minute of this one if you can!
And we wrap up the day in San Diego as the Atlanta Braves will try to beat the Padres and even up their series. It’ll be a battle of true aces in this one as lefty Max Fried takes the hill for Atlanta while right-hander Joe Musgrove is on the bump for the Padres.
So who will get eliminated today? Who are you all rooting for? Comment below!
