Someone is taking the series lead tonight
The National League Championship Series continues tonight after a travel day yesterday with the series tied at 1-1. The series moves to the East Coast where the New York Mets will host the Los Angeles Dodgers for this critical Game 3 matchup.
Taking the hill tonight for the road team will be right-hander Walker Buehler, who will be making his second career postseason start. His first one went terribly as he allowed six runs in five innings to the Padres in the previous round. That continued a rough season for the former top prospect as Buehler has struggled to regain his previous form after his second Tommy John surgery while also dealing with a separate hip injury too. He’s entering free agency this off-season so a quality outing tonight in this critical Game 3 could help him earn a bit more on the market this winter.
Here is how the Dodgers will line up behind Buehler:

That lineup will be going up against Mets right-hander Luis Severino in tonight’s contest. The former Yankee top prospect has had a much better year than his counterpart. In his first year with the Mets the righty was a workhorse for his new team, starting 31 games and throwing 180 frames while posting a solid 3.91 ERA on the year. That’s a complete turn around from his years with the Yankees, which were marked by constant injuries. Having spent all that time with the Yankees Severino also has a lot of playoff experience as he’ll be making his 14th postseason appearance tonight. He also has a couple just this postseason, pitching 12 innings over two starts while allowing six total runs. He was even better this year at home as he had a sub-3 ERA at Citi Field here in 2024. New York should feel confident in their starter tonight.
