Snap that skid?
The Oakland A’s have lost six in a row, and 10 out of 12. It’s now or never. Gotta snap that streak, and the next chance comes Saturday afternoon against the New York Yankees at the Coliseum.
It’ll be Frankie Montas on the mound, which is good news because he’s the only A’s pitcher who’s hot right now. Seven of his past eight starts have been quality, including last time when he tossed seven shutout innings against the Giants. Oakland needs a stopper today, and Montas is the top candidate to step up.
Meanwhile, the A’s lineup will face Nestor Cortes Jr. The lefty went against Oakland once this year out of the bullpen, back in June, and threw three scoreless innings of clutch long relief to help New York notch a comeback victory.
After scoring 35 runs over their past dozen games (2.9 per game), the A’s shook up their order once again. Josh Harrison now leads off and plays shortstop, both of which are things that much of the Athletics Nation community was hoping to see lately.
