What does it take to inspire this team?
It wasn’t long ago that the Oakland A’s were hot. Less than a week ago actually. Now they’ve lost five of six, and they’re staring at the possibility of being swept in four by the Chicago White Sox.
What’s it going to take to get this group going for more than a few days at a time? They’re good enough to do it. They took an emotional beating this week with a scary injury, which gives fair cause for patience. Will it also give them something to rally around? (Not yet.)
Today it’s Cole Irvin on the mound. His last six starts each came against the weaker AL West teams, so this is the first time in over a month that he’ll face a contender or anybody outside of the division.
One of these days they’ll win again. Maybe it’s today?
C’mon A’s. Give us something to cheer for this afternoon. Heck, give yourselves something to cheer for.
