Maybe the A’s will show up today
I can’t in good faith recommend that you watch the Oakland A’s today. They’re still going through some stuff, and you might want to hold off until they fully put this bad-luck-slump behind them.
Last night’s game was a joke. The A’s didn’t play badly, but every single thing went wrong, which has happened a lot the last two months. A concerning amount of the time actually. That luck is gonna need to turn around soon, because there isn’t infinite season remaining and the Wild Card standings are getting tight.
Fortunately, Frankie Montas has been strong lately. His last four outings have been quality, and the one before that fell just one out short of the quality designation. In five July starts he posted a 2.30 ERA with great numbers in 31⅓ innings (40 Ks, 9 BB, 2 HR).
The Padres counter with Joe Musgrove, who has the best numbers of anyone in their rotation.
