Two wins in a row, looking for a third
The Oakland A’s are starting to turn things around after a tough month of July. They’ve won two games in a row, and now they’ve added four new players via trade — including two today, catcher Yan Gomes and super-sub Josh Harrison from the Nationals, though they won’t join the club until tomorrow.
Friday night brings the second of four games in Anaheim against the Los Angeles Angels, who are getting weaker by the day. They placed All-Star slugger Jared Walsh on the injured list before the series began, and then today they traded away starting pitcher Andrew Heaney (to the Yankees) and reliever Tony Watson (to the Giants).
Oakland starter Chris Bassitt will face the remaining Halos lineup, which didn’t manage to score any runs last night in the series opener. Bassitt has faced the Angels twice this year, pitching quality ball into the 8th inning the first time, and then going the distance and tossing a shutout the second time.
