MLB news roundup
Happy Wednesday, Athletics Nation!
A’s shortstop Jacob Wilson is widely regarded as the team’s No. 1 prospect, with top nods from both our AN community and MLB Pipeline. Now Wilson has also garnered a spot on the Pipeline’s Top Ten Shortstop Prospects list.
Jim Callis at MLB.com provided a rundown on the list, detailing the top prospects in terms of various skill attributes. Unsurprisingly, Wilson is considered the best of the bunch in terms of his hit tool. Callis also deems the 22-year-old a frontrunner to win Rookie of the Year honors in 2025.
A’s No. 2 prospect Nick Kurtz was named the third best prospect at first base, while Tommy White got the sixth spot at third base, so the A’s now have three Top Ten prospects at their respective positions.
The A’s are also figuring prominently on the international scene, having come to terms with 15 international signees headlined by 18-year-old Japanese pitcher and shortstop Shotaro Morii. Jason Burke at SI.com has more details on Morii and other notables on the list.

The votes have been tallied on the 2025 Hall of Fame candidates, and a trio of greats have earned entry their first time on the ballot. Ichiro Suzuki fell one vote shy of unanimous induction; CC Sabathia and Billy Wagner also punched their tickets to Cooperstown. Athletics Nation congratulates these legends on their richly deserved passage to the hallowed hall!

It’s kind of like saying you don’t like the Beatles.
Not voting for Ichiro is peak Cybertruck energy. Certain people didn’t get enough attention as children. https://t.co/zmDMciXE51
