MLB news roundup
Happy baseball season A’s fans!
Yesterday the first batch of players arrived to camp as pitchers and catchers reported for the beginning of Spring Training. They’ve all had a long layoff from the rigors of playing professional ball and the build-up for the long season starts right now. The foundation of these pitcher’s seasons will depend on how much effort they put in over the coming month.

There wasn’t much news out of the very first day of camp, which isn’t the most exciting thing but could also be a positive. When players report many clubs usually let the fans know of injuries that pitchers are dealing with entering camp but the Athletics have been lucky in the health department so far as spring begins. We’ve already seen arms across the league report to their teams with ailments that will likely land them on the IL to begin the year and the Athletics haven’t reported anything like that. Getting the year started on the right foot.
We even got a little bit of video action of likely #3 starter JP Sears getting some work in:

Still, even without a lot of news out of the first day of camp there’s still the annual excitement in the air that baseball is emerging from its winter slumber. The weather is about to get warmer, and the regular season will be here before we know it. The rest of the team reports on Monday morning for the first full squad workout, and then on Saturday we finally get the games going. Yay baseball!

Hopefully we get some more news out of the squad today, their second day back. We can only hope. Have a fantastic day A’s fans.

Hot take alert:
The biggest factor in determining whether the A’s will be an 80+ wins team or a 70+ wins team this season could be the health of starters Luis Severino & Jeffrey Springs. Severino has had 100+ IP twice in the last 6 seasons & Springs has had 100+ IP just once in his MLB career.
