MLB news roundup
Happy Friday, Athletics Nation!
There are positive signs that the A’s are finding their way back to being competitive. The most recent indication is the sweep completed against the White Sox yesterday. While it is true that the Chicago Southsiders are looking like one of the worst teams in MLB again this year, the A’s positively dismantled them—scoring 23 runs to the Sox’s 4 in the latter’s own very cold and windy ballpark.
The A’s have struggled at their new ballpark in Sacramento, having been swept by the Cubs in their first home series, and subsequently losing three game series to both the Padres and Mets. That leaves the A’s at 2-7 in home games so far, but all the teams they’ve faced are tough, and the A’s looked much better through last week’s 2-4 home stand than they did against the Cubs.
Today, the A’s head to Milwaukee with a 9-10 record to take on a 10-9 Brewers squad; both teams will end the day at .500 if the A’s win. J.T. Ginn is slated to take the mound today with an opportunity to build on his impressive season debut against the Mets last Saturday.
The A’s have an opportunity to make a statement this weekend. If they win the Milwaukee series 2-1, they’ll head back to Sacramento a .500 team. If they sweep, they’ll be welcomed home as a winning team and likely be within striking distance of the AL West leading Texas Rangers, the A’s first opponents in the upcoming home stand.
Have a wonderful weekend, AN.

Stiff competition.
How insanely powerful is the NL West? The 4th-place team would be tied for the best record in MLB in any other division. pic.twitter.com/Tzekp1eH1h
