MLB news roiundup
Good morning A’s fans!
Baseball season might be officially about to end. The Los Angeles Dodgers are one win away from finishing off the New York Yankees in the World Series to put a bow on the 2024 season. After winning last night the Dodgers are now up 3-0 and are essentially champs at this point. Never say never I suppose but there has never been a comeback of this magnitude in World Series history. In fact most situations like this end up in a sweep. Not exactly the series MLB was hoping for when they got their Yankees-Dodgers matchup.
If Los Angeles is indeed about to win it all today then two for Athletics players will be getting rings. Former A’s closer Blake Treinen is set to win his second World Series ring with the Dodgers, the other coming during the 2020 shortened season. Like all Dodgers players that were on that team, he’ll be glad to get a full-season ring, wrapping up any criticism of the shortened-season championship. Along with Treinen the only other former Athletic player on the Dodgers is Max Muncy, who played all of 96 games over two seasons for the club. And like Treinen Muncy was on the team when they won that 2020 World Series so it would be his second ring.
If the World Series does come to a conclusion tonight it’ll mark the end of the 2024 season, which saw our A’s both struggle and grow in their final season in Oakland. The offseason promises to be long and difficult but we can finally turn our full attention towards 2025. Time to make moves.
Have an excellent Tuesday everyone, and enjoy Game 4 tonight!
