MLB news roundup
Happy Friday, Athletics Nation! Hope you had a safe and happy Halloween.
The 2024 MLB season is officially over. Walker Buehler pitched the final inning of the World Series on Wednesday, earning his first career save in the process. Yesterday, he and other eligible players like Juan Soto and Alex Bregman became free agents.
Offseason activities will now begin in earnest. Gold Glove awards will be announced on Sunday, and this year’s general managers meetings begin on Tuesday. Trades have resumed. Options are being exercised.
The A’s have already made their first offseason move in trading Daz Cameron to the Orioles yesterday. They also announced their schedule for 2025, their first season in Sacramento.

Notably, but as expected, no city affiliation is mentioned in the infographic, though the team’s X account still has Oakland in the name, for now. Comments remain disabled on the account, so don’t bother trying to tweet back how excited you are about the terrific job the organization is doing for its fans.
Most of the 21 home day games will be played in April and May, presumably to help protect players and fans from Sacramento’s blistering summers. Correspondingly, 60 home games will be played at night, with a customary start time of 7:05pm.
So now we know when and where the A’s will be playing in 2025. Let’s see how the roster shapes up in the weeks and months ahead.
Have a wonderful weekend, AN.
