First game of three against the ‘Sox
Hello A’s fans and happy Friday!
Fresh off taking two of three in Houston, the A’s nine-game road trip hits the south side of Chicago as they’ll face the 33-114 White Sox for a weekend three-game set. When both of these teams met in Oakland a little over a month ago, the White Sox snapped their infamous 21-game losing streak but the A’s still salvaged a series victory.
It’ll be a battle of the southpaws with Brady Basso set to make his second MLB start against Chicago’s lone all-star this season, Garrett Crochet. Bassos first big league start last Saturday against Detroit saw him yield just three hits and no runs over six scoreless in an A’s loss. On personal level, however, it was still a remarkable day for Basso who set a career-high in innings and punch-outs after being used strictly as a reliever prior.
It’s too bad that Crochet is still stuck in Chicago for the time being because he’s truly one of the leagues best and most nasty arms. The last seven starts haven’t went particularly well — he’s got a 7.32 ERA through just 19.2 innings. Batters still hit just .225 against him though as Crochet is amongst the leagues best in strikeouts with a near 13 K/9.
Below is how the A’s will line up righty dominant against Crochet:
