Looking for more progress in Arizona
Well the Athletics are in the win column after yesterday’s victory. They’ll now try to make it two in a row today in their third game of the spring, with this matchup coming against the Kansas City Royals.
Taking the ball to start today’s game for the A’s is right-hander Osvaldo Bido. The 29-year old turned heads last year when healthy, posting a solid 3.41 ERA in 16 appearances, nine of which were starting assignments. Unfortunately for the late-blooming Bido he also struggled to stay healthy, first with a blister issue in May and then with right wrist flexor tendonitis in September. Bido is in the competition for the fifth starter’s spot and entered camp as one of the front-runners for that final starting spot, but he’ll have to have a good spring and fight for it if he wants that assignment. Today will be the first of what should be multiple chances this spring to impress the coaching staff and take the lead in that race.
Here is how the Athletics lineup will look today:

We’re also fortunate enough to get a sneak-peak at who will likely be following Bido out of the bullpen:
Hogan Harris, Tyler Ferguson, Grant Holman, Michel Otañez scheduled to pitch in today’s game in Surprise.
Top pitching prospect Luis Morales also on the travel roster. https://t.co/pkwOCMuotR

They’ll be facing Royals left-hander Cole Ragans, who is also making his first spring appearance. He should lead the top of the Royals starting rotation but for now, we don’t have to worry about a long outing from the lefty.
