New series to start the new week
After a long three-city road trip, the Athletics finally return home to the Coliseum to take on the Pittsburgh Pirates for the first game of this 10-game home stand.
Rookie right-hander Joe Boyle will be tasked with the start in tonight’s matchup. It’s been a roller coaster of a season for Boyle as he’s had a couple quality starts and a couple stinkers. His most recent start only lasted three innings due to a high pitch count against the Yankees. The club will definitely be hoping for more length from the young gun.
Here’s the lineup that’ll be backing Boyle up today:

Ruiz is back in the leadoff spot after a half day off yesterday, taking the spot of Seth Brown tonight against a left-handed starter. The Pirates will be sending out Bailey Falter, who has been solid in the early going for Pittsburgh. He’s coming off his best start of the season so the Athletics will be hoping to knock him off his game early tonight.

Pittsburgh has been in rebuilding mode for what seems like ages but they’re quietly hovering around .500 in the early going this season. This should be a really good series. Let’s hope the A’s come out on top!
