The red-hot A’s will look to bring out their brooms this afternoon
Who is this team and what did they do with the Oakland A’s?
The green and gold are 7-2 since returning from the All-Star break last week in Texas, and today, they’ll go for a four-game sweep over their divisional rival Los Angeles Angels.
Heading into this series, the Angels were 7-3 in their last ten games and coming off of their own sweep against the Seattle Mariners in Washington. The A’s have paralyzed this momentum, however, as they’re now 8-1 in their last nine against the Halos heading into the two teams final matchup of the season this afternoon.
Toeing the rubber today for the A’s will be Dominican-born Osvaldo Bido making his third start of the season. Bido’s been a bit of a swiss-army knife for Oakland being used primarily in a relief role but also filling in the rotation when need be. His start this last Tuesday against the Houston Astros was arguably the best outing of his season as Bido went five innings allowing a run and striking out six while earning the victory.
Below is the lineup behind Bido this afternoon as written by Mark Kotsay. It’s 2/3 of the same starters from last nights 3-1 victory but with Kyle McCann, Seth Brown and JJ Bleday as the A’s face off against a righty.

Facing off against this A’s lineup will be Angels starter Jose Soriano. It’s been a season of highs and lows for the 25-year-old fellow Dominican Soriano but like Bido, Soriano is coming off some recent successes.
Soriano’s last start Tuesday against Seattle saw him earn the win while working 7.2 strong allowing three hits and an earned run. He’s posted a 2.95 ERA over his last six starts while earning a 4-2 record in that stretch establishing himself as a possible young arm the Angels can build off of going forward — something they’ve desperately been looking for for years.
Here’s the lineup that will take the field with Soriano:
@Angels Lineup:
Nolan Schanuel (L) 1B
Luis Rengifo (S) 3B
Taylor Ward (R) LF
Willie Calhoun (L) DH
Kevin Pillar (R) CF
Logan O’Hoppe (R) C
Brandon Drury (R) 2B
Zach Neto (R) SS

A win and sweep is the most fitting ending to this series for the red-hot A’s so let’s see if they can finish off the job this afternoon. See you all soon!
