Looking to keep the good times rolling
The A’s have taken the first two games of this 4-game set against the Angels. Now they’ll try to take game three against Los Angeles as the club takes on the Angels for the second-to-last time of the 2024 season.
The club turns to right-hander Mitch Spence for his second start of the half. The first half of his first full big league season ended on a rough note but he came out of the break looking fresh, firing off five innings of two-run ball against these same Angels last time out. the club would gladly take more of the same from the Rule 5 pick tonight, especially with the way the bats are hitting right now.
Speaking of, here’s the lineup for tonight’s contest:

Lefty JJ Bleday gets the day off against the left-hander the Angels will turn to today. Shea ‘Bangeliers’ is in the cleanup spot and Abraham Toro takes over at second base today, giving Zack Gelof a day off after going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. We may be seeing more of this if Gelof doesn’t turn it around soon. Maybe a demotion is in the cards, if he’s not going to be playing everyday.
The Angels will throw out left-hander Tyler Anderson for tonight’s start. The veteran lefty has easily been Los Angeles’ best start this season, posting a great 2.91 ERA in 123 2⁄3 innings this year. As hot as the Oakland offense has been, they’ll have a real challenge today against Anderson. Let’s hope they’re up to the challenge.

Let’s go A’s! We’ve won the first two, now another win secures the series and gives us a chance at a 4-game sweep!
